"I have worked with Karen for the last six years and there is no one I would rather have lead my team. She is dependable and committed and when all others are losing their heads, Karen always saves the day. She is definitely the best!"

Karen Besserman

Prior to launching Besserman Associates, Karen worked on and managed political campaigns for over a decade. She has worked and lived in almost a dozen states mostly across the midwest and west coast. She moved back to Seattle to work on Maria Cantwell's winning US Senate campaign in 2000, and after the election directed the statewide recount effort.

In 2001, Karen started a small, women-owned consultancy focusing on local candidate and issue campaigns; non profit fundraising and strategy; issue management; as well as public relations and public affairs. Besserman Associates worked on Washington State's efforts to convince Boeing to build and construct its new Dreamliner (787) in Puget Sound. In addition, Besserman Associates worked with the Women's Bioethics Project to launch a national book club that included the creation of a pod-cast with a best selling author and ethicist and with the World Association for Children and Parents (WACAP) to develop a program in conjunction with a local news program to feature adoptable kids each week on the air in the hopes of finding them adoptive families. Karen served as the Marketing/Fundraising Manager on the national launch of a locally produced documentary film.

Karen has managed several local campaigns in Seattle and managed a statewide initiative campaign also in Washington State. She has worked on issue and candidate campaigns and with nonprofit organizations of every size all across the United States specializing in management, message development and communication, fundraising, strategic planning and budgeting. She has worked on some of the biggest upset campaigns in the country and has raised millions of dollars for her campaigns and causes.

Karen is a graduate of the Greater Seattle Chamber of Commerce's Leadership Tomorrow program and former board member of Aradia Women's Health Clinic. She has a BA from Tulane University in New Orleans and a MA from Kent State University.
